If labels print off-center, stop before the tear-off point, or feed the wrong amount, run the auto-calibration (automatic label identification). The printer moves the labels back and forth to learn their size and gap, then stops at the correct tear-off point.

Run calibration any time you change your label type, size, or brand. It happens entirely on the printer, so the steps are the same no matter what device you print from.

USB Rollo

1. Turn the printer off with the switch at the back.

2. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the printer and from your computer. This stops print jobs from interrupting calibration. You will reconnect it later.

3. Turn the printer on and load at least 10 labels through the back, printable (peelable) side facing up. Do not use a single label. The printer needs several labels to detect the size.

4. Press and hold the circular button on top. Release after you hear one beep.

5. The labels move back and forth and stop at the tear-off point (the gap or perforation). One or two labels may feed through. That is normal. Remove them and feed them back in to save them.

6. When the light turns green, press and hold the button again and release after two beeps. A self-test page prints.

7. If the self-test looks good, reconnect the USB cable to the printer and the computer, then print the sample label from rollo.com/sample.

Wireless Rollo

1. Open the printer head and remove any labels inside.

2. Close the printer head with no labels loaded.

3. Feed the labels through the back of the printer, printable side up, with at least 5 to 10 labels on the roll. The printer pulls them in.

4. Press and hold the R button on top until you hear one beep, then let go. The labels move back and forth as the printer learns them.

5. Press and hold the R button again until you hear two beeps, then let go. A test page prints.

6. Print your label again from your computer or the Rollo app.

What is normal during calibration

1. The printer feeds several labels back and forth. It needs 5 to 10 labels to measure the size correctly. Feed the blank ones back in afterward.

2. After calibration, the printer may advance one label before settling at the tear-off point. That is expected.

If calibration does not work

1. Power cycle the printer. Turn it off with the back switch and unplug the power adapter from the wall. Wait until the green light on the adapter goes out, then plug it back in and turn the printer on. Run the calibration again.

2. Clean the print head. Turn the printer off, let the head cool, wipe the white metal strip with a 70% isopropyl alcohol pad, press the head down a few times, roll the roller in both directions, and let it dry for 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Make sure you are using the original Rollo power adapter, plugged directly into a wall outlet.

4. Check your labels. Direct thermal labels leave a dark mark when scratched with a fingernail. Transparent or very thin labels often cannot be calibrated. Labels with a punch hole or black mark may not feed or calibrate correctly and can interfere with the printer's sensor detection.

5. If the printer only beeps and never moves the labels, or calibration keeps failing after the steps above, contact support. The printer may need a hands-on check.
