The Rollo Wireless (X1040) also works as a regular wired printer. Connect it to your computer with the included USB cable, and you can print even when WiFi is down or unreliable.

Before you start

1. Plug the power adapter directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip.

2. Use the USB cable that came with the printer.

3. Load your labels and power the printer on with the switch at the back.

Windows

1. If you only print 4x6 labels, a driver is not required, just connect the USB cable from the printer to your computer.

2. Go to Control Panel, then Devices and Printers. The Rollo printer should appear.

3. If it does not, try a different USB port on your computer, or click Add a printer and select it from the list.

4. If the issue persists, download and install the Rollo driver from rollo.com/driver-dl/Rollo-Windows-Latest.zip (also available at rollo.com/setup-usb). Open the downloaded file, run the installer, and click Yes if Windows asks for permission. (Note: If you are printing other label sizes, please follow step 4 to 8)

5. Go to Control Panel, then Devices and Printers. The Rollo printer should appear. If it does not, click Add a printer and select it from the list.

6. If the driver fails to install, check for an old copy first: go to Control Panel, then Uninstall a Program, remove any existing Rollo entry, restart the computer, and install again. You can also remove leftover printer entries by pressing the Windows key + R, typing shell: PrintersFolder, and deleting any extra Rollo printers listed.

7. If, still the same, you may add the printer manually via the local port: In Add a printer, click "The printer that I want isn't listed." Under Existing ports, under existing port select "USB001", When asked for a driver, choose Rollo and the driver you installed, keep the currently installed driver, then click Next and Finish.

8. Print a test label from rollo.com/sample.

Note: The Rollo driver does not yet support ARM-based Windows computers (such as newer laptops with Qualcomm processors). On those machines, the driver installer will not run.

Mac

1. Connect the USB cable from the printer to your computer.

2. Open Printers and Scanners in System Settings.

3. Click the plus (+) button and select the Rollo printer.

5. A generic 3.0 driver will be selected.

6. Click Add.

7. If the printer fails to add, download and install the Rollo driver from rollo.com/setup-usb.

8. Go back to Printers and Scanners in System Settings.

9. Click the plus (+) button and select the Rollo printer.

10. Click the "Use" dropdown, choose Select Software, search for Rollo, pick "Rollo Thermal Printer," and click OK.

11. Click Add.

12. Print a test label from rollo.com/sample, then print your own labels.

iPhone, iPad, and Android

Phones and tablets do not print to the X1040 over USB. They print wirelessly through the Rollo app over your WiFi network. If your WiFi is unreliable, use the USB connection from a computer instead.

Good to know

1. USB printing works even when the WiFi light is not blue. The wired connection does not depend on your network.

2. You can keep the WiFi connection set up and still print over USB from a computer. The two do not conflict for normal printing.

3. If you are troubleshooting a WiFi problem, unplug the USB cable first so you can tell which connection is doing the printing.
