When a label prints halfway down the label, splits across two labels, or leaves a blank label between prints, the printer has usually lost track of your label size, or the paper size setting does not match your labels. Recalibrate the printer first, then confirm the paper size is set to 4x6.
Step 1: Recalibrate the printer
Calibration teaches the printer where each label starts and ends.
USB Rollo
1. Open the printer head.
2. Remove any labels currently loaded inside the printer.
3. Close the printer head without any labels inside.
4. Re-feed the labels through the back of the printer. Load at least 10 labels with the peelable (printable) side facing up.
5. Press and hold the round button on top and release after you hear one beep. The labels will move back and forth.
6. Once the light is green, press and hold the round button again and release after two beeps. The printer prints a self-test page.
Wireless Rollo
1. Open the printer head and remove the labels.
2. Close the printer head with no labels inside.
3. Re-feed at least 10 labels through the back of the printer. They should move back and forth.
4. Press and hold the "R" button until you hear one beep, then let go.
5. Press and hold the "R" button again until you hear two beeps, then let go. The printer prints a self-test page.
Step 2: Check the paper size and scale
1. Print the Sample label. If it prints on one label correctly, your printer is fine, and the problem is the label file or print settings.
2. When printing, set the paper size to 4x6 and the scale to "Fit to printable area."
3. Check where the label comes from. Many platforms generate labels on a full 8.5x11 page, which splits across labels when printed. Change the platform's label format to 4x6
Step 3: Check the printer settings on your computer
Windows
1. Go to Printers & Scanners, select the Rollo printer, then Printing Preferences.
2. On the Stock tab, confirm the label settings match your labels.
3. On the Settings tab, make sure all margins are set to 0.
4. Click the Layout tab, then Advanced, and confirm Paper Size is 4x6. Click OK, then Apply, then OK.
Mac
1. In the print dialog, confirm that the paper size is 4x6 and that scaling is set to 100%.
2. If you use a custom size, open Manage Custom Sizes and make sure all margins are set to 0.
iOS and Android app
The Rollo app uses the label size the printer learned during calibration. If labels still split or skip when printing from the app, rerun the calibration in Step 1, then check that the app shows the correct size under Menu, Rollo Printer, your default printer, Settings, Printing Defaults.
Still skipping a blank label between prints?
1. Confirm you are using the original Rollo power adapter, plugged straight into a wall outlet (not a power strip).
2. Rerun the calibration in Step 1. This fixes most skipped and duplicated labels.
3. If a specific PDF always adds a blank label, check the file for an extra blank page or extra space below the label.
