Rollo printers can print more than 4x6 shipping labels, including 2x1 barcode labels, 2x2 circles, and other sizes. First, calibrate the printer so it learns the labels you loaded, then add the custom size in your computer's printer settings using the steps for your platform below.
Before you start (all platforms)
1. Load the new labels through the back of the printer, peelable (printable) side facing up.
2. Calibrate so the printer learns the new label size. Press and hold the round button (Rollo USB printer) on top until you hear one beep, then let go. The labels will move back and forth.
* Wireless Rollo printer automatically calibrates on its own
3. Make sure your label file is designed at the same size as your labels. For example, if you print 2x2 labels from a design tool like Canva, set the design to 2x2, not 2.5x2.5. A file that does not match the label size will print incorrectly no matter what the printer settings say.
Windows with the USB Rollo
1. Open Printers \& Scanners, select the Rollo printer, and click Manage, then Printing Preferences.
2. On the Settings tab, add your custom paper size (edit the form name and enter your label's width and height). Click Apply, then OK.
3. Go to the Layout tab, click Advanced, and set Paper Size to your new custom size. Click OK, then Apply, then OK.
4. Print a test label. When printing from a browser, double check the paper size before you click Print.
Windows with the Wireless Rollo
On Windows, the Rollo Wireless is preset to print 4x6 only. To print custom sizes, you need to add the printer to Windows manually with the Rollo driver. It will still print wirelessly.
1. Download and install the Rollo Windows driver from rollo.com/driver-dl/Rollo-Windows-Latest.zip.
2. Make sure the printer is connected to your WiFi network and shows a steady blue light.
3. Find the printer's hostname. Open the Rollo app on your phone, go to Menu, tap Rollo Printer, then Default Rollo Printer, tap Rollo x1040, and it will open the Settings , tap Network, and note the hostname. Or load 4x6 labels and press the WiFi light button for 2 to 3 seconds until the light flashes green, and the printer prints a network test page showing the hostname/Web page URL.
4. On your computer, go to Control Panel, then Devices and Printers, and click Add a printer.
5. Click "The printer that I want isn't listed."
6. Choose "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname" and click Next.
7. Choose TCP/IP device on the drop-down and then enter the local address which is shown on the network test page, sample local address: rollo-e8-54-7a.local, and click Next.
8. Select Rollo and the Rollo driver you installed, choose "Use the driver that is currently installed," and click Next, then Finish.
9. Go to Printers \& Scanners, select the newly added printer, click Manage, then Printing Preferences, open the Settings tab, and add your custom label size (edit the form name with your label's width and height), then click Save , then Apply.
10. When printing your custom label, please change the destination/printer to the latest Rollo X1040 you've added, choose the size, and set the scale to Fit to printable area or fit to paper
11. When you switch back to 4x6 shipping labels later, go to the Layout tab, click Advanced, and set Paper Size to 100mmx150mm. Click OK, then Apply, then OK.
Mac
1. Open your label file and choose Print.
2. Click the Paper Size dropdown and choose Manage Custom Sizes.
3. Enter the width and height of your labels in inches.
4. Set all margins (top, bottom, left, right) to 0.
5. Click the plus (+) sign, then OK.
6. Select your new custom size as the paper size and print.
iOS app (Wireless Rollo)
The Rollo app picks up the label size the printer learned during calibration, so custom sizes usually work without extra setup.
1. Load the labels and calibrate as described in "Before you start."
2. In the Rollo app, open the Menu, tap Rollo Printer, tap your default Rollo printer, then Settings, and check Printing Defaults. It should show the label size you loaded.
Print your custom label. If the size shown is wrong, rerun the calibration, remove the labels from the printer, then feed them from the back of the printer again. Try printing again.
Android (Wireless Rollo)
Android device does not save custom sizes on the app; you should install the Rollo designer app on Google Play. The designer should detect the size of the label inserted in the printer and should print directly
